Group will be divided into two subgroups. 1st subgroup of the following programs (optional), 2nd subgroup in the reverse order.

 

Option 1 "Journey to the past"

 

Sightseeing tour of Belgrade, visiting Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park (medieval fortress at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the historic center of Belgrade). We will continue to the east, to visit Smederevo Fortress.

Smederevo was medieval capital of Serbia. Built in 1428-1439, by the despot George Brankovic. Turks took fortress in 1459 and it marked the final fall of the Serbian kingdom.

 

Visiting to the wine cellars and enjoying great quality Smederevo area wines.

Lunch in wine cellars or in ethno-restaurant on Silver Lake.

 

Visit to the ancient Roman city Viminacium

 

Major Roman city, the capital and the military camp of the Roman province of Mesia. The city was founded in I century. n. e. on the Roman military road Via Militaris, and was one of the largest cities of the era. Town was devastated by Hun tribes in V century, but it was rebuilt by Justinian. Slavs completely ruined city in the VI century. At an archaeological site are the remains of temples, streets, squares, an amphitheater, palaces, Hippodrome and the Roman baths.

Program at the Museum: pageant, gladiator fights, opportunity to try on the role of the gladiator or a patrician, a ride on the Roman chariot

Option 2 "Welcoming and hospitable Šumadija"

A trip to the ethno-village

 

Program in ethno-village.

 

Familiarity with the traditions, customs, music and dance of the central part of Serbia - Šumadija. Tasting dishes prepared according to old folk recipes, wines and brandies. You will visit fair of old crafts and workshops: you will have the opportunity to see how the blacksmith and master “opanchar” (opantsi – Serbian national leather shoes), woven carpets, made pottery and much more. Possible acquisition of national souvenirs. Musical program, master-class Serbian dance - “kolo”.

Lunch at the ethno-village.

 

Traditional rural holiday dinner: čorba (a thick soup), salad, suckling pig on a spit, freshly baked bread, dessert, drinks.

 

OR lunch in some of the wine cellars that are surrounded by vineyards.

 

Gourmet dinner in Šumadija: gastronomic specialties of Central Serbia, drinks, wines from our cellar.

 

Excursion to Topola

 

Museum of the founder of the royal dynasty and the founder of the modern Serbian state - Karadjordje. Church of St. George - the mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty and unique architectural ensemble: mosaic technique is made up of the best frescoes from 60 Serbian monasteries, and because experts call it a kind of anthology of Serbian medieval fresco.

 

Excursion to the royal wine cellars. Wine degustation.

Excursion to Sremski Karlovci

 

This small baroque town for several centuries of the reign of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy was the center of Serbian culture and spirituality. And it is here that the first negotiations between the Ottoman Empire, Austria and its allies held a round table that was the beginning of a tradition and created idiom "to sit at the round table negotiations."

 

Visiting the Museum of honey and wine cellars in the area

 

Nearby Fruska Mountain region is famous for its honey - fragrant, filled with aromas of herbs, limes and chestnuts. In the museum of honey, guests will get acquainted with ancient traditions of beekeeping and honey production, will be able to buy beautiful souvenirs - rare varieties of honey, brandy on propolis, beeswax candles and more.

 

In wine cellars in Sremski Karlovci you must try Bermet - a dessert wine with herbs and spices, cooked according to old family recipes. Bermet was in offer at the royal court of Vienna, on the stock exchanges in London and Rotterdam, it was sold as an exclusive drink, and was listed in the wine list of "Titanic"!

 

A trip on a traditional farm - Salaš

 

Salaš  is an integral part of the tradition and culture of Vojvodina. Small farm in the vast plains of Vojvodina originally served as a place overnight tillers and winegrowers, in the XV century it was safe rescue for Hungarian families fleeing the invasion of the Turks, and in the XVII century Serbs began to settle here. Traditional Salaš – this is family house, furnished according to centuries-old traditions, and also a place for travelers, it can have function of restaurant in the shade of huge oak trees, and stables and extensive farm with surrounding fields and vineyards. Here, guests can try traditional dishes that were born from the merger of gastronomic tastes Hungarians, Serbs, Turks.

 

The program on the Salaš: skiing or vineyards tour through by mini-cab tractors, ancient crafts fair and workshops of traditional rural old crafts, musical program, master-classes of Serbian dance-kolo.

 

* Travel in Vojvodina can be organized on the buses, and on an old train "Romantika" or famous "Blue Train" of Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito. Travel to Sremska Karlovci is about 1,5 hours, the trains are serving drinks and snacks, while bands are playing traditional music.
